TECH NEWS JUNE: JUNE: Intel releases Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor Today the NDA on Intel's Pentium 4 3.2GHz processor has
been lifted, and there are already a slew of reviews online, with many more
inevitably to follow. While it doesn't introduce many new features aside from
a clock speed increment, what it does do is re-affirm Intel's position as the
leader of the high-end desktop processor market. Here's a list of known
reviews so far: TomsHardware TweakTown Tech-Report Sudhian HotHardware MBReview Gamers Depot Hexus Hard Avenue HardCoreWare Enjoy! HP dominates Top500 computer list Hewlett-Packard Co. has narrowly maintained its position as
the top supplier of systems on a list of the world's 500 most powerful
computers, scheduled to be released on Monday. "As the maker of 159 of the
500 computer systems on Monday's Top500 list, HP has just one more listing
than its closest competitor, IBM Corp., according to a copy of the list
obtained by IDG News Service. IBM does dominate the top part of the list,
however, accounting for almost half of the computers in the top 100".
As CeBIT America winds down on the final day of its debut
outing, exhibitors on the floor say the show has gone smoothly but been more
sparsely attended than they'd hoped. "Organizers had already ratcheted back
their attendance expectations, citing the sagging economy. Soon after
announcing the show last year, they projected the first CeBIT America would
draw 40,000; several weeks before the show, that estimate was down to 20,000.
While no official figures are yet available on the show's attendance tally,
the final number is likely to be around 15,000, according to CeBIT America
managing director Mark Dineen." Gigabyte GA-7NNXP Released Gigabyte has just announced its latest motherboard, the
GA-7NNXP, based around the nForce 2 chipset and supporting AMD's 400MHz
AthlonXP processor range. "The GA-7NNXP consists of the new generation
NVIDIA nForce2 Ultra 400 System Platform Processor (SPP) and Media and
Communications Processors-Turbo (MCP-T). The SPP carries the next generation
architecture consisting of 400MHz system bus, dual channel DDR400 controller
and AGP8X graphics interface to provide a framework for excellent performance.
The unique Dynamic Adaptive Speculative Pre-processor (DASP) and
Hyper-Transport is integrated to boost the overall system performance."
